The murderer of a teenager who bled to death in a Deptford stairwell after being stabbed was found guilty at the Old Bailey last Friday.

Ahmed Mire, 20, from Catford, fled to Dubai after fatally stabbing 18-year-old Adam Pervaiz in the leg. Police arrested him as he returned to Britain at Heathrow Airport. His uncle Mohammed Ali purchased the plane ticket and was convicted of assisting an offender.

Before he died on May 7 last year, Lewisham College student Mr Pervaiz  intended to join the fire brigade.

His Mother, Shazia Pervaiz, said: “Adam Khan Pervaiz is not a number, he is not another statistic, he was my son, a great brother, a friend and he has been cruelly taken away from us.”

She added: “The person that killed Adam has his blood on their hands.”

A/DCI Rick Murphy called the teenager’s death “sad and futile”, and said his thoughts are with the boy’s family. “This is another tragic example of an 18-year-old’s life being cut short by the use of a knife and dying in tragic circumstances.”
