The UK’s first indoor mini-golf course has opened in Lewisham.
“The Green” is located on the site of former hospital in Hither Green, between the station and Mountsfield park.
The owner, Nick Sandqvist, 41, brought the idea to Lewisham from his native Sweden. He said the course was modeled on championship courses in the Nordic countries, where it is a popular sport. He even imported genuine Swedish felt to make the green.
Mr Sandqvist spent five years and just over £700,000 on the project. He toiled for 18 months building and designing the course in a workshop in Wembley.
Mr Sandqvist said he decided to make the green when he noticed that UK golfers were missing out on the joys of an indoor course. He recommends the sport saying: “It’s easy to teach beginners and it’s exciting.”
The course is now open to the public on Mondays to Fridays between 1pm and 9pm and 11am-9pm at weekends. It costs £5 for adults and £3 for children.

Not tried it out yet, but just to correct a couple of points in your post:
the course is not in a converted hospital, it’s on the former hospital site. Sadly the majority of hospital buildings were demolished by Bellway, who developed the site.
The park you refer to is Mountsfield Park not Mansfield Park.
Can’t wait to try the course out!
Thank you Clare
We have made the corrections- we really value feedback from our auidence and hope you are enjoying East London Lines
What a bizarre business to set up in a residential block of flats during a recession…
As a mother of 3 boys i think this is fantastic! I would normally drive to Hastings for my boys to have fun on the mini golf course, but on my doorstep and at a reasonable rate is brilliant. The course looks very professional and the location actually works well with parking available. I think this gent deserves praise for taking the risk of investing so much and bringing it to our country. By the way its very good for your child’s co ordination skills, social skills and confidence!
