Hackney North and Stoke Newington was a safe Labour seat in 2005, with the party receiving just under half of the share of votes.

Given that this seat has one of the ten highest proportions of black residents, a significant Muslim population and also one of the highest Jewish populations in London, this situation is unlikely to change in 2010.

Hackney South and Shoreditch constituency is considered a safe Labour seat, with just over half the share of votes attributed to the party in 2005. This is unsurprising, given that the vast bulk of this seat is still made up of council estates, the proportion of which is second only to Camberwell and Peckham within London.
