A man has died after being shot in Lewisham. Emergency services were called to Howson Road shortly after 2 am on Sunday (30 May) morning. after receiving reports of a man lying injured in the street. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have cordoned off the area. Brockley police station is located on the same road.
The victim, who is reported to be 23, has not yet been formally identified and police are yet to trace next of kin. No arrests have yet been made.
Operation Trident, which was set up to combat gun crime within London’s black community, is dealing with the case. Anyone with information should call 020 8247 4553. A post mortem into the young man’s death was being held at Greenwich mortuary. This is the second shooting murder in Lewisham in less than a month. Nathan Allen, 21, was shot dead in Ludwick Mews on the Woodpecker estate on May 3.

OMG I was living exactly where they boy was found dead in Brockley, and I moved back to my country just the day before ,on saturday… He was found dead the day after…Dont know what I would have donne seing this…
London needs more and more police around. People need to feel safe…There are families,nurseries and kids where they shot that guy…
Its such a shame growing up in an area where you see the people you grew up with die month after month. We are all striving for a better future but at what cost no one deserves to die alone in the street i feel this death more as i knew the young man that died RIP Matthew may the lord accept your soul into his kingdom.
