The Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses to a vicious assaust that left a 23 year old man in intensive care for several days.

He was attacked in Lewisham Road SE13 about forty minutes after midnight on Thursday, 20 May near the junction of Blackheath Rise. A group of males punched and kicked him until he was unconscious. His injuries were so bad he had to be taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service (LAS). He had severe bruising to his back, head, and a cut to his arm and his condition has since stabilised.

The investigating detective, DC Nick Bale, said:

“This attack is very serious and has resulted in this young man remaining unconscious and in intensive care for several days. We would urgently like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything that may help our enquiries. It is important that we catch these offenders and bring piece of mind to the victim, his family and the community.”

The suspects made off on foot from the scene, running towards Blackheath Rise SE13, and are described as wearing dark clothing and having hoods up over their heads. Their faces were covered by scarves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the CID at Lewisham Police station on 020 8284 8372, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
