Attacked Millwall fan released from hospital

Photo: Millwall FCA Millwall football fan who was attacked after an away game against Bristol City in August has just been released from hospital to spend the rest of his recuperation at home it was announced today.

The victim, 32-year old Lee Mitchell was seriously injured after being attacked in Bath City Centre by two 19 year old local men.  During his time in hospital he was in a critical state with head injuries

Mitchell and his two friends were ambushed at 8.30pm on August 7 following his team’s 3-0 win at Ashton Gate.

Internet rumours surfaced at the time that Mr Mitchell had died.  On the internet forum ‘House of Fun’ a user called Lion of Lee said: “He’s still with us m8, even though on life support and not woken up yet… we are all just praying m8, doctors say 50/50”.

A statement from Somerset and Avon Police was posted on the site after fans made many enquires.  It said: “Bath police say the assault on him was completely unprovoked although they are certain it wasn’t football related”

The two attackers were named as Luke Richardson and Aaron Schofield after witnesses came forward after a public appeal was released.  Their next court hearing will take place on December 30.
