Seventh man to stand trial for murder

Gulistan Subasi

A seventh man has been charged with the murder of a Turkish woman in Hackney.

Zeon Jackman, 21, from South Tottenham, appeared at Highbury Magistrate’s Court last Friday and was remanded in custody.

Gulistan Subasi, 26, died in March of this year after being shot at close range when she answered the door of her mother’s flat in Homerton.

The 26-year-old had lived in Turkey since her separation from her husband in 2006, but was in London to celebrate her six-year-old son’s birthday.

Six other men are already facing murder charges, including two teenagers aged 15 and 16, and Ms. Subasi’s former husband.

One of the men – Isak Billy, 24, from North Kensington – is also charged with threatening to kill a witness two weeks after the shooting.

The murder trial begins at the Old Bailey next month.
