Woman killed by train at Norwood Junction station

A woman has died after being struck by a train at Norwood Junction rail station last night.

London Ambulance Service were called to the scene yesterday evening after receiving reports that a person had been hit by a train.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: “We sent one ambulance crew, a single responder and two duty officers.

“Sadly the woman was dead at the scene.”

The incident closed the station and caused delays to trains running between both East and West Croydon and London Bridge.

At present there are no indications as to the identity of the woman.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:  “BTP officers attended the line near to Norwood Junction rail station on Wednesday, 17 November following a report of a woman being struck by a train.

“Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended the incident, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident was reported to police at 7.31pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The train involved was the 6.22pm service from Guildford to London Victoria.
