A 24-year-old man has been stabbed to death at his home in Croydon early this morning.

Police were called to a house on Stockbury Road at around 1.35am, where three men had broken in and fatally assaulted the victim.

London Ambulance Service attended the incident but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, police said: “We believe we know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification. Next of kin have not yet been informed.”

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command have begun an investigation into the killing. No arrests have yet been made.

Police said a post-mortem examination would be arranged in due course.
