An unidentified woman in her late 20s was found dead from fatal stab wounds in Brymary Close in Bow, yesterday morning.
Police were lead to the flat at 7am on Tuesday morning when investigating the case of a man reported dead 72 hours earlier.
On Easter Sunday the body of a man in his early 30s was found hanging at an address in Weavers Field Park, Bethnal Green.
A member of the public discovered the body and alerted the emergency services. The man was pronounced dead by London Ambulance Service and police at approximately 6.30pm.
His next of kin have been notified of his death, but he has not been officially identified.
The man’s post-mortem is taking place today, and the woman’s tomorrow. After which the police hope to have a clearer understanding of the two cases.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “We are provisionally linking the two incidents but enquiries continue and we retain an open mind at this early stage.”
DCI John Sandlin is heading the investigation and an incident room has opened at the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
The police are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding the two cases to get in touch.
