Man dies in motorbike accident

The death comes days after tributes were paid to a 19-year-old also killed on a motorbike in Croydon.

A 22-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a crash in West Croydon.

The man was riding along Sumner Road on Saturday when he came off his bike, the London Ambulance Service has reported.

Despite efforts to rescuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene by an air ambulance doctor at 2.45pm.

The 22-year-old’s death took place just a week after a teenager was killed while riding a motorcyle in the New Addington area of Croydon.

Mark Gurney, 19, was riding his friend’s bike without a helmet when he lost control and suffered severe head injuries.

The qualified plumber from Biggin Hill died in the early hours of the morning on Saturday May 4.

The following Tuesday, friends of the “generous and kind boy” paid tribute to him at the scene of the crash.
