Snoop Dogg and Scissor Sisters star at Lovebox

Thousands of people are expected to brave the elements today to attend the second day of the Lovebox Festival in Victoria Park, headlined by Snoop Dogg.

The festival, now in its eighth year, is expected to attract at least 60,000 people.

The line-up also includes rising rapper Example, Katy B and the Scissor Sisters, who headline tomorrow. Today will also feature highly praised comedy duo Robin and Partridge Show, which could provide some laughter amid the rain showers.

Snoop Dogg – aptly, perhaps predictably, performing Doggystyle on the main stage later today, is rapidly expanding his fanbase beyond that of an urban rap star into the more mainstream arena of British festivals.

A little further down from the ivory towers of stardom, Example is keen to showcase his new material. Speaking about his number one track Changed The Way You Kiss Me after his performance on the Graham Norton show earlier this year, he conceded: “It’s great to have a number one but so did Bob the Builder and Mr Blobby so it’s not all about that, it’s about longevity.”

The Robin and Partridge Show involves some sketches, improvisation, political satire, surrealism, multimedia and beatboxing. They have performed comedy at The Edinburgh Festival, Glastonbury, Latitude, Port Eliot, Bestival, the London Barbican and at various independent comedy clubs across the UK, as well as running their own alternative comedy clubs in London.

This year at Victoria Park be prepared for Lovebox to meet all your hip hop needs, and then some – but bring your wet togs!
