In a series of dawn raids on Thursday last week, police in Croydon arrested five men between the ages of 16 and 26 on the suspicion of burglary during the riots in the borough and other parts of London last month.

The raids are part of a Metropolitan Police operation (“Operation Withern”) to identify and arrest suspects after having released images publicly of those believed to have been involved in the unrest on August 8. Police are continuing to request that the public help identify suspects through the use of the photos they have available.
The men arrested last week were placed in custody at various locations across London. Further arrests are anticipated by the Met as Operation Withern continues.
