Budding young footballers in Tower Hamlets are being giving the chance to impress Chelsea Football Club over the October half-term school holiday.

Chelsea FC and Elite Pro Sports FC are teaming up with Tower Hamlets Council to offer free half term sports sessions from October 25- October 28 at Mile End Stadium.  Young talented players will be able to demonstrate their football skills and potentially earn a trial with premier league giants Chelsea.

Derek Bennet, football development officer at Tower Hamlets Council, said: “Tower Hamlets has long been a hotbed of sporting talent. We have produced excellent players over the years who are either from the borough or who have trained here including: Ashley Cole, Ledley King, John Terry, Scott Parker and Jermaine Defoe who have gone onto carve out successful careers”.

Chelsea aims to target unique athletes through their talent search programs. Their most recent discovery was local 13-year-old Muhammed Ridwan who is now playing for Barnet FC’s under 13s squad.

Sandra Qasem, stay-at-home mother of two boys, says she is “thrilled” about the event. She added: “Both my boys are crazy about football. It would be a good opportunity for them to take part in an organized talent search instead of just playing inside the house”

The sessions are open to girls and boys aged 5-11 and will be held from 10am-2pm.
