Boy band ‘The Risk’ have made it through to the next round of the X Factor and are now the bookie’s favourites to win after a well received performance on Saturday nights live show.

Derry Mensah, 21, from Croydon, Ashley John-Baptiste, 22, from Lewisham and the two other boys Andrew Merry and Charlie Healy, impressed the judges with their performance of Bruno Mars’ hit ‘Just the Way You Are’.

Paddypower.com currently has The Risk as 9/4 favourite, with other contestants Janet Devlin (previously at the top spot) at 5/2 and Misha Bryan in third place at 9/2.

Mentor and judge Tulisa Constostavlos gave them a standing ovation and said: “You sound like you’ve been in a band for ten years… it was meant to be, the four of you are amazing.”

The other three judges were just as enthusiastic about the band. Louis Walsh said: “There’s something magical here, I am going to predict big things for The Risk not just for the X Factor.”

Gary Barlow told them: “Two words from me- pure class. That is what hard work and commitment sounds like. Well done, truly amazing.”

Kerry Rowland added: “You should be very proud of yourselves, great vocals.”

Tulisa, who lost one of her acts, the other boyband Nu Vibe, in yesterdays X Factor, can gain comfort in the fact that The Risk have gained popularity on Twitter too with the use of their hash tag #therisk increasing 600% according to @statweestics.

If The Risk win the competition, which ends just before Christmas, they will go down in X Factor history as the first group ever to do so.
