Service delays as man killed by Southern train

Train services running via East Croydon station face severe disruption after a man was struck and killed by a train earlier this evening.

Southern Railway has warned customers: “Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes can be expected.”

They will be providing live updates on their website, but currently report “major disruption” on all services.

British Transport Police confirmed that a man was hit by the 15:24 service from Caterham to London Victoria, at approximately 15:47 this afternoon.

London Ambulance service attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for BTP said the death, “is currently being treated as non-suspicious”.
