Hackney Council is calling for volunteers for Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend, the BBC’s biggest ever free-ticketed event.
The event will be held on Hackney Marshes on 23-24 June 2012, as part of the London 2012 Festival with the majority of the free tickets allocated to Hackney residents.
Locals Leona Lewis and Plan B have been confirmed as acts. Florence, The Machine and Tinie Tempah will also go on stage.
A spokesman for Hackney Council said: ” It’s a huge event and, because of that, we’ll be looking for volunteers to get involved in what will be a unique opportunity to experience it and play their own part in making it a huge success.”
The London 2012 Festival will run from 21 June -9 September 2012 which is the finale of the Cultural Olympiad.
Specific details of volunteering will be available on Hackney council in the coming month.
