Emma West, the woman charged with a racially aggravated public offence order following an alleged tram rant, appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court this morning.

West, who was captured on a video then viewed by over 11 million on YouTube, was granted unconditional bail until her case is heard at Crown Court on February 17.

West, 34, was denied bail at her hearing on December 6, though this decision was appealed and revoked.

The court wanted the New Addington resident to be remanded in custody until January, allegedly for her own safety. It was revealed that West has received death threats since the YouTube video showing a woman shouting racial abuse was posted on November 27.

West, who wore a red cardigan and black shirt,  made no indication of a plea today and said she wanted to face trial at Crown Court.
