A new free school for children aged 4 to 11 plans to open doors in Telegraph Hill. The Hatcham Temple Grove Free School will be located at the existing Hatcham College in September 2013.

According to the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation, primary schools are needed in the area. Lewisham council will support the project.

The first year will begin with a reception year of 60 boys and girls and the school hopes to reach a capacity of 420 by 2020, according to the Federation’s website.

They plan to develop the capacity of the school by 60 children annually as each new year group joins the school.

The Federation also runs other educational institutions including Knights Academy and Crayford Academy.

Parents of children aged 2 to 3 are invited to attend a meeting to discuss about the new primary school. The consultation will take place on January 16, at 5.30 pm and 7pm at Haberdashers’ Aske’s College, Pepys Road, New Cross.
