Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the brother of former EastEnders actor Gemma McCluskie has been charged with her murder.

Tony McCluskie of Pelter Street, Hackney, is due to appear at the Thames Magistrates Court on March 12, reports the BBC.

He has been accused of murdering her between February 29 and March 6.

McCluskie was arrested on Wednesday when police officers raided his home that he shares with his mother, according to the Daily Mail.

Police found the torso of the actress in Regent’s Canal on Tuesday after a member of the public reported that they had seen a ‘suspicious object’ floating close to Hackney’s Broadway Market. Police are still trying to recover her other body parts and her BlackBerry mobile.

McCluskie was best known for playing Kerry Skinner in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 2000 to 2001.
