Man hit by Croydon tram airlifted to hospital

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a tram in Croydon this morning.

The incident happened at Fieldway tram stop at 9am.

A spokeswoman from the British Transport Police said: “The man received a glancing blow from a passing train and was treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.”

The man is reported to be in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.

All tram services have resumed as normal.
