As university first-years descend on east London, EastLondonLines has created interactive maps of Lewisham and Tower Hamlets to help you find the essentials near you.

From pubs through supermarkets to quirky backstreet museums, we’ve marked out key locations for those coming to the area for the first time.

The three boroughs host two colleges of the University of London – Goldsmiths and Queen Mary – as well as halls and campuses for London Metropolitan University and the University of Arts London. Between them, these institutions are host to 50,000 students of all ages.

London is so huge that it’s easy to know everything about the ten minutes between your place and the nearest tube station and next to nothing about the surrounding borough.

But with our maps, it should be a little easier to work out where you are – and find what you need to find.

Of course, we don’t know everything. And some things we might have wrong. If you’ve got a suggestion or a correction, or think your shop or company should be on here, tweet us at @eastlondonlines or email us at news@eastlondonlines.co.uk.
