Fundraisers, charity workers and children were blessed with the image of a bear on skates as BBC’s Children in Need came live from the Tower of London on Friday night.

On the eve of Ice at the Tower opening to the public for the eighth year in a row, Pudsey the Bear and Children in Need broadcasted live from the rink at the Northern wall of the Tower.

Speaking before the evening, BBC London presenter Riz Lateef said: “It’s going to be quite an evening… Pudsey will be joining BBC London at the ice-rink outside the Tower of London and meeting some of the fundraisers in the capital who’ve been busy raising money for this year’s BBC Children in Need. We’ll also have a few surprises up our sleeves, but you’ll have to tune in as I can’t give anything away!”

The rink opened to the public on Saturday and will remain open until Sunday, January 6, 2013. It will be open from 10am to 10pm every day, with the exception of Christmas Day.

An hour session can be booked at the rink box office, with adults paying £13 and under-16s paying £9 during peak hours. Off peak prices are £11 for adults and £8.50 for under-16s. Lessons and group sessions can also be booked through the box office.
