A woman in her mid-twenties was found by police and paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene. An injured man in his late-twenties also found was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man, who works as a personal trainer, is now being treated in a hospital in south London.

A neighbour told the Croydon Advertiser that he saw the couple’s five year old daughter leave the flat moments after the police smashed down the door.

Police have launched a murder investigation and spokesperson said that enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of this death.

A post-mortem examination will take place today.
