Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Catford man who was shot in the head at a party in Lambeth on Sunday.

Jerome Edwards, 23, was shot at a flat in Southwell Road, Camberwell, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police and ambulance services were called to the address just before 5am after receiving reports of a man with gunshot wounds. Edwards was rushed to hospital but died several hours later.

Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police arrested two men in their early twenties on Tuesday evening, one on suspicion of murder and the other on suspicion of attempted murder.

Another man presented himself at a South London hospital on Sunday morning suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle, which police believe he received in the street outside the flat. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Local residents reported hearing three gun shots fired at some time between 4am and 5am. A trail of blood could be seen on Sunday morning on the road and pavement, appearing to lead from Southwell Road to nearby Coldharbour Lane.

An incident room has opened at Lewisham Police Station under Detective Chief Inspector Glen Lloyd.

DCI Lloyd said: “We are trying to piece together the circumstances around both incidents.

“We believe there could have been anything up to 100 people at the party and I am keen to speak to anyone who was inside the flat in Southwell Road.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4906 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
