Detectives investigating the murder of James Sweeney in Clapton on Saturday May 4 have charged a man with his murder.

Jeremy Lewis, 29, of Collinson Court, Generals Walk, Enfield was charged with the murder Wednesday evening May 8.

He is expected to appear at Redbridge Magistrates Court on Thursday morning May 9.

Sweeney, a shop worker who lived at Lea View House on Jessam Avenue in Clapton and was originally from Montserrat, was pronounced dead after officers and the London Ambulance service were called to his home.

A postmortem revealed he had died from stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.
