The Dalston Bootstrap Company is running a competition to fill four empty containers in its car park on Abbott Street. The idea is to make a Dalston ‘box park’ with a difference.

The space might look abandoned but it is close to the Arcola Theatre and avant-guarde music venue, cafe Oto and two minutes from Dalston overground station – so it offers real possibilities to anyone with a good idea for a local start-up.

Bootsrap are asking locals: “What would you do with a shipping container?”

Would you set up a record shop? A youth club? Or perhaps a creative workshop space?

Aiming for innovative ideas on how to animate the currently empty and unfurnished space, Bootstrap are open to a variety of possibilities, especially if they benefit the wider Hackney community.

Running in line with bootstrap’s values as a charity to support local enterprises and invest in cultural exchange, the competition is a chance to feature exciting new projects in Dalston.

With only four containers up for grabs, the deadline for submissions is Friday 25th October.

Submit your idea today!

If your submission is accepted, Bootstrap will require a further business plan on Friday 15th November.
