With Christmas edging ever closer, Pick of the Line is here to get you in festive mood.

We’ve got Christmas markets providing a chance to do some shopping and get merry, music and theatre to enjoy with the family and a rare opportunity to watch hundreds of Santas run through Victoria Park.

Santa Fun Run

Sunday December 8, 9.30am - 12pm

Local Charity, Headway East London needs people to dress up as Santa for a day and take part in a 5k or 10k run at Victoria Park. It costs £22 to enter but you get your Santa suit for free.

If the £22 entry fee is too much – go down and cheer on the sprinting, or more likely sluggish Santas as they raise money for charity.

Snowy Fingers Vintage Market

Tuesday December 10, 2:30pm

Head down to Round Chapel Old School Rooms for a vintage Christmas market where over 50 traders will be selling home ware and furniture, as well as kitchen accessories, jewellery, fashion, vinyl and more.

Street food and spiced cider will be on hand to keep you warm, while live music by a brass band and Beatles tribute act The B-side Beatles will help ensure spirits are high.

 

Christmas at the Giffin Square Food Fair

Saturday December 7, 10am – 4pm

Head down to Deptford High Street and Giffin Square to celebrate Christmas with music, poetry, art and lots of delicious food.

Horniman Christmas Fair

Saturday December 7 & Sunday December 8, 10:30am – 4:30pm

Horniman Museum and Garden plays host to a festive event for all the family with an arts and crafts market, Santa's Grotto (book in advance) and festive food.

Spitalfields Winter Music Festival

Friday December 6 – Tuesday December 17

Discover early masterpieces, contemporary music, intimate performances and events for all ages at Spitalfields Winter Music Festival. Featuring performances from The Sixteen, Kate Tempest, Britten Sinfonia, Arun Ghosh, Folk artists Martin Green and Becky Unthank, and much more.

Winter Makers Market and Art Auction

Friday December 6, 5pm – 9pm

Saturday December 7, 10am – 5pm

The Limehouse Town Hall hosts this two-day event showcasing some of the best designers and craftspeople in London. There will be affordable original artworks by the famous and the unknown at an auction on Friday evening.

 

A Christmas Carol – The Musical

Monday December 9, 7:30pm

Fairfield Halls is taken back in time for a one-off performance of A Christmas Carol in musical form.

Coulsdon Yulefest

Saturday December 7 & Sunday December 8

Set up by Coulsdon West Residents’ Association and local businesses, Yulefest aims to bring something amazing to the community at Christmas.

There will be live performances all day on both Saturday and Sunday as well as a Christmas grotto.
