Three men were found guilty at the Old Bailey yesterday for shooting and killing gang rival, Nathan Allen, four years ago.

Curtis Quashie, 22 from Deptford, was sentenced to 24 years imprisonment, while Bosun Sode, 21 and Jamel Green, 20 from Brockley, both received an imprisonment of 17 years.

The victim, Nathan Allen, was chased through the Milton Court Estate on May 3, 2010 by a group of men dressed in dark clothing and face masks. The men caught and shot Allen several times in the chest.

Allen managed to stumble to a nearby house and called for an ambulance. His last words were recorded after dialing 999: “Been shot – in my lung – I can’t breathe. Quick.”

Allen died in the garden of a 72 year old woman in Ludwick Mews, New Cross.

He was pronounced dead by the emergency services at approximately 9pm.

The prosecutor claimed Quashie, Sode and Green were part of the group chasing the victim, with all three caught on CCTV in the lead-up to the shooting.

Investigating Officer Matt Gosling, from the Trident Gang Crime Command, welcomed the verdict:

“ Nathan’s murder is another sad example of how petty gang rivalries and mindless violence can lead to tragic consequences. I hope these defendants, who now face substantial prison sentences, will begin to reflect upon their actions that day and recognize the damage and grief they have caused.”

The murder is thought to have been the result of a feud between the Shower gang, of which the victim belonged, and the rivaling Anti Shower gang.

The prosecution claimed that an earlier minor incident, where a motorcycle had come dangerously close to a female pedestrian and her three-year-old child sparked the attack.

The female pedestrian had called Quashie, who was with the other defendant at the time. The prosecution stated that the defendants agreed to “do something in revenge”.

Quashie was arrested on May 19, 2010, after a silver gun with Quashie’s fingerprints was found in a carrier bag at a local garage.

Phone records also proved that Quashie had communicated with Sode and Green, who were also arrested.
