Tech City has launched a fundraising campaign, in association with Centre for London to help young people from East London find jobs in digital companies.

The campaign “Connecting Tech City” is using crowdfunding to create a web platform to help connect local digital businesses with young people in the area.

Tech City is situated between Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Islington, in an area where youth unemployment is as high as 40%.

However, East London also has the largest cluster of digital companies in Europe and they are constantly looking for competent employees.

Jess Tyrrell, Associate Director of Centre for London, said: “If all the jobs Tech City has were filled by local young people there would be no youth unemployment in the area at all.”

According to CTC, one of the biggest problems is that most young people are unaware of the job opportunities available in Tech City.

The CTC has a starting target of £5,000 to help develop the website., with rewards for donating including  “I grow Tech City badges” and a spot on a discounted coding course
