Crystal Palace are reported to be on the verge of signing striker Fraizer Campbell from Cardiff City after meeting his contract’s £600,000 release clause.

Campbell, 26, who scored six goals in England’s top flight last season, has been expected to leave the Bluebirds since their relegation last season.

Leicester City had also been touted as possible suitors, however, are reported to have failed to agree personal terms with Campbell.

If signed, the former Manchester United player would become the second striker added to the Eagles’ roster this summer after Marouane Chamakh signed a two-year contract with the club, having spent the previous season at Selhurst Park on a short-term deal.

Meanwhile, Palace midfielder Jose Campana completed his move to Italian top-flight side Sampdoria on Tuesday (July 22) for an undisclosed fee.

Campana, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan with German side Nurnberg after falling out of favour under manager Tony Pulis. He only made six appearances in the Premier League.

The former Spain Under-21s player had only joined Palace from Spanish side Sevilla last summer.
