A  Hackney fashion photographer has been given a seven-year jail sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting two of his models.

Shaun Colclough, 40, who was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court, had previously been convicted of raping an 85-year-old woman when he was 22.

His studio in Hackney Wick was the scene for his attacks. There, he persuaded the models to pose nude for free photographs for their portfolios and fashion books.

Despite being hired for legitimate assignments by several fashion brands, Colclough also used the website Model Mayhem to connect with the aspiring models he assaulted. He would force his subjects into explicit poses and demand oral sex.

One of Colclough’s victims was so affected by the experience that she started a blog denouncing him, hoping other victims would come forward.

The photographer changed his name from Sean Peacock after spending six years in prison for raping a pensioner. Though the offence took place in 1996, he was not caught until 2002, when police matched his DNA with the crime scene. He claimed he had been drunk and had no memory of the incident.

Sentencing, Judge Sheelagh Canavan, told him: “You targeted these women on the basis that they were likely to be vulnerable and unlikely to stand up to you. Your sexual gratification is, and I am sure always will be, linked to the humiliation and degradation of women.

“Your victims will have to live with the memory of what you did to them.”
