Croydon van driver, Ben Haenow, has continued smoothly on his X Factor journey with a rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

After performing the classic by Simon and Garfunkel, the 29-year-old was the second singer announced to be going on to the next live show, together with 13 more acts.

However, Haenow didn’t impress all the judges with his performance. Mel B said: “I found that song a bit boring, for me it didn’t really work tonight.”

But Simon Cowell almost immediately slammed her. He said: “I don’t know what Mel has been drinking, that was sensational.”

Cheryl also added: “That was one of my top three performances this week.”

After walking off stage, Haenow said: “I’m literally buzzing mate, I’ve never ever felt this good.”

Haenow recently was one of Cowell’s only acts to impress him at the Judge’s Houses last Saturday.

Blonde Electra were the first act to be eliminated, after receiving the fewest of the public votes, with Stephanie Nala and Overload Generation fighting it out in the sing off to save themselves from elimination.

After the judges had their say, with two votes for both acts, the sing off went to ‘Deadlock’. The ‘Deadlock’ tiebreaker then revealed the public vote and Overload Generation were also eliminated.

Haenow will perform again in the next live shows on Saturday and Sunday, October 18-19.
