The American phenomenon marks the day after Thanksgiving and has become renowned as a period during which retailers slash their prices. British shops are now also offering huge savings for the weekend, meaning Brits can snap up their Christmas shopping for much less. EastLondonLines looks at the deals being offered in the area.

 

Croydon

Topshop lovers are in luck. From today until Monday, Topshop is offering 50 per cent off selected lines of clothes. Shoppers can head to the North End branch, but for those who don’t want to leave the comfort of their homes, the retailer is also offering free delivery for purchases made online.

Curry’s PC World say they’re “heading into Black Friday with a bang” so watch out for some serious price cuts on a range of items from TVs to washing machines. Messages across social media will let shoppers know the latest offers, so keep an eye out, or visit the store on Trojan Way.

Hackney

 Tesco’s price cuts will begin tonight at 00:01am. Locals can visit the Hackney Superstore to make massive savings on a range of goods, including electrical items and children’s toys. A total of £15 million deals will be offered across the stores and online.

Boots customers can grab some bargains in-store and online, with the Mare Street branch participating in the Black Friday weekend. Across the four days, Boots will be offering “more deals than ever before”, including cuts on toothbrushes and toiletries.

 Fashionistas in need of some new clothes without the hefty price tag can visit Urban Outfitters for their UO Blackout, which begins today and carries on until December 1. To keep updated with what items are on sale, look out for #UOBLACKOUT on Twitter, or visit the store on Commercial Street.

Argos has announced that they, too, will be offering price cuts in their stores on ranges of “tech, toys, TV and more”. EastLondonLines locals can visit the store on Whitechapel Road to make the most of the great deals.

Pop into Sainsbury’s and make the most of their discounts on kitchenware and electrical items. A Dyson hoover is going for 50 per cent below normal retail price at £159.99, whilst a kindle is priced at just £39.99. The offers will go live from 8:00am when the New Cross Gate Sainsbury’s opens on Friday and will run for up to three days.

After the success of last year, when 60 per cent of its stock was snapped up within the first two hours, Asda will again be dropping their prices on Friday and Saturday. Among the 700,000 products discounted will be quad bikes, TV sets and headphones. Locals can visit the Isle of Dogs Asda to benefit from the deals.
