CCTV footage of the moment a mob attacked Tower Hamlets police with fireworks emerged online today.

A 15-strong hooded gang launched rockets at an oncoming police car on Bruce Street, Bow in the early hours of November 2.

Worried residents called police to the scene after the group set a bin alight when they released fireworks into the road.

The security video shows the crowd hovering in the street before the attack. The approaching police vehicle is then stopped in its tracks by fireworks thrown from approximately 100m away.

No one was injured, although the police car and other property were damaged.

One young man was arrested at the scene in conjunction with the incident. Foyzer Rahman, 24, was charged with arson, causing danger to road users, damaging and destroying property and cannabis possession.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on November 3. He will appear again at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 18.
