Three people are being held by police following the death of a 15-year-old schoolboy after a fight in Bethnal Green on Friday December 5.

Two men, aged 23 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday morning and taken into custody at separate north London police stations.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested last night and is being questioned at a station in south London.

The teenager has been identified as Joel Adesina from Dagenham, who was known as a talented footballer and member of the Bardag FC Yellows.

The schoolboy was found around 11:00pm with serious stab wounds to his abdomen. He was taken to the nearest hospital but died about three hours later.

About 30 members of the club’s teams paid tribute to Adesina at their home ground in Valence Park.

Police arrested an 18-year-old boy at the scene, but have since released him with no further action.

The victim’s family has been informed and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course, police have said.

An argument is believed to have broken out between two groups of youths, one on foot and the other in a car.

Police believe the victim was part of the group on foot, and that the argument carried on as they moved toward Gibraltar Walk, Shoreditch.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Jones of the HMCC said: “Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation or have information which may assist in the investigation is asked to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information may contact the police non-emergency line on 101 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
