Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car in Shoreditch

A male pedestrian has died after being hit by a car early this morning.

Police were called to Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch shortly after 02:04 am. Crew from the London Air Ambulance and fire fighters attended the scene but the man, believed to be in his early twenties, was pronounced dead at 02:20 am.

The next of kin have been informed and the Metropolitan police have confirmed that no arrests have been made.

Officers from the Serious Collision Unit are currently investigating the incident.

Police are encouraging any eyewitnesses of the event to come forward or to call crime-watchers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
