Abney Park Cemetery re-opened this morning following an attempted rape that occurred during the early hours of Sunday, whilst the cemetery was closed.

The cemetery in Stoke Newington, Hackney, is a popular local attraction, but was closed to the pubic from Sunday morning.

Police have said  the victim was a woman in her 30s, who has since been offered support from specially trained staff.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that officers from the sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse unit are currently investigating the case, but there have been no arrests made as of yet.

Police have asked for anyone with information to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
