A rap duel between two rappers and two police impersonators caused a sensation on YouTube last week, generating more than 78,000 views.

The performance took place on Lewisham High Street on February 10 where two rappers rhymed about not being able to afford to buy anything when they were “arrested” by the police impersonators.

As the police approach them in the video, one of the rappers says: “I don’t care about the popo [slang for police].” At this point one of the police impersonators takes the microphone and raps back: “I go to the bank man, get into my bully van and then I go tap them.”

In response, the rappers seem to insult police impersonators, saying: “Your Mum is a pig, your Dad is a pig, your Uncle’s a pig, everyone’s a pig, look at your face man you look like a pig.” At this point the police impersonators act offended and arrest him.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said no offences were committed in the video. It was confirmed that the men in the video were not real police officers.
