A van used to illegally dump waste that was seized and crushed by Croydon Council has gone on display around the borough as a message to fly-tippers.
The van was seized on 21 February, and later destroyed, after it had been used to dump nearly two tonnes of rubbish in Waddon.
The remains of the van are being displayed in nine locations across the borough as a deterrent to other potential fly-tippers as part of the on-going council campaign against fly-tipping, Take Pride.
Councillor Stuart Collins, deputy leader of Clean Green Croydon, said: “fly-tipping blights our borough, and we will track any person or vehicle involved in it.”
Clean Green Croydon run walkabouts and events throughout the borough, which have led to prosecutions and interventions.
They have also introduced three new fly-tip removal vehicles.
Local resident Darryl Murdoch, who works at Metropolis Business Publishing, said: “I first reported the fly-tipping to Croydon council on Hillside Road in July 2013, and still nearly two years later nothing has been done.”
The council did not confirm whether they had received complaints from Murdoch when contacted by Eastlondonlines.

An April 2015 report compiled by the council showed a 3% increase in the number of fly-tipping incidents cleaned up within 48 hours between February and April.
In the same period, the number of reported incidents increased from 1,323 to 1,571.
The van will be in the following locations this week:
- Friday 22 May – Lower Addiscombe Road outside Co-op
- Saturday 23/Sunday 24 May – North End outside Barclays Bank
