A fraudster who posed as a Croydon grandmother has splashed out on £85,000 worth of luxury Rolex watches after gaining access to the real woman’s bank account.

On June 3, the woman used forged documents at a Santander branch in North End , Croydon, to gain access to the account. She was accompanied by a young accomplice posing as her grandson as a signatory, later transferring £120,940 from the victim’s account to another.

A 17-year-old boy has already been arrested in connection with the fraud. Two female suspects believed to have collaborated on the crime are still being sought by police.

The Dedicated Card and Payment Crime Unit, a joint City of London and Metropolitan Police squad has now released the above CCTV images of the suspects.

Police believe that a recent purchase of three Rolex watches at Westfield shopping centre in White City could be the key to tracing the two women. The watches were purchased from the account to which the money was moved.

The police released images of both Rolex models as they asked the public to aid their investigation by keeping an eye out for the distinctive watches.

Detective Constable Damian Ward, who is leading the investigation, said: “We now need the public’s help to identify and then track down the pair of them so they can be brought in for questioning.”
