A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a Metropolitan Police detective during an undercover operation in east London.

Tyrone Henry, 31, of Phoenix Close, Hackney, has also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

The detective, part of the Met’s Trident gang crime unit, was shot in the shoulder on Thursday at 12.45pm during an intelligence operation on Clarissa Road in Haggerston.

He remains in a stable condition at an east London hospital.

Henry is expected to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, Scotland Yard said.
