Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager died in a road traffic accident involving a lorry in Poplar yesterday.

The accident occurred on a busy dual-carriageway just before rush hour at around 4.15pm on Tuesday May 31.

The London Ambulance Service tried to save the 18-year-old pedestrian, who died at the scene. Police contacted his family later last night.

Emergency services were called to the A2010 Leamouth Road, between East India Dock Road and the Lower Lea Crossing roundabout.

The driver of the lorry involved had stopped to help and no arrests were made.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the accident to contact them on 101.
