An 81-year-old woman died yesterday after being hit by a motorbike in Croydon less than two weeks ago.

The pensioner had been fighting for her life in hospital since the collision in the afternoon of June 5.

She was knocked over by the motorbike on St James’ Road, close to the crossing of Tavistock Road.

The elderly woman was taken to a South London hospital by helicopter. London Ambulance Service and officers also attended.

The motorcyclist stopped and helped police at the scene, no one has been arrested at this time.

Police have appealed for witnesses, Detective Sergeant Wendy Parker, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sadly the victim has now died and it is imperative that anyone who may have seen the collision or who came to the lady’s aid comes forward to speak to us.”

There were two people at a nearby bus stop that have not yet been identified. The police are urging them to come forward as they would have been in a good position to see what happened when the woman was hit.
