Four men arrested following Deptford stabbing

Four men, all in their early 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 16-year old boy was stabbed in Payne Street, Deptford, on May 28.

The boy is in a critical condition at a south London hospital after the incident.

A 20-year-old was arrested yesterday (June 5) and remains in custody at a south London police station. Another 21-year-old, who was arrested in Portsmouth, was also found carrying an offensive weapon. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ on Saturday (June 4) and was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, July 1.

The other two suspects, who are aged 21 and 23, were arrested on May 30 and May 31. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

The investigation was initially led by detectives from Lewisham CID with assistance from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, but has been taken over by the Trident and Area Crime Command.

Detectives are still appealing for information and witnesses in relation to the Deptford-stabbing.
