So Solid Crew – the popular garage group of the early 2000’s – wowed the crowds when they turned on the Christmas lights at Croydon’s newest shopping and dining space, Boxpark.

Known for their hip hop, grime and garage music, only Megaman, Asher D, and Harvey out of the So Solid collective formed the line-up last night. The smaller group were also joined by DJ Swiss who was  on hand to keep the party going after the lights were turned on.

Fifteen years after release, the group opened with their most memorable track – ‘21 Seconds’ – which thrilled the crowd lucky enough to grab one of the 500 free tickets issued a week ago.

The ‘21 seconds’ group surprised the already excited crowd, with an unexpected special guest. Harvey shouted to the audience: “Who knows Wretch 32?!”

The crowd screamed with delight when the English rapper, Wretch 32, emerged on stage as surprise guest.  And taking time to get to know their audience Harvey asked: “who was born in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or 90’s?!” The 90’s category received the loudest cheer by far.

For many, last night’s special event was a major throwback to days when hip hop began to take the UK music scene by storm.
