37 years jail for three teenagers in Myron Yarde murder case

Three teenagers have been sentenced at the Old Bailey to a total of 37 years in prison for manslaughter.

Myron Yarde, 17, from Deptford was stabbed to death last April. Fauz Richards, 19, and two other 16-year-olds Junior Lukelo-Mami and Lucas Risch were found guilty of manslaughter. Fauz was sentenced to 13 years in jail and the other two teenagers were sentenced to 12 years each.

Two others Jamie Kennedy, 31, and Charlotte Edmonds, 32 were jailed for two years and three months for conspiring with the teenagers and disposing of a murder weapon. All five were convicted at the same court in December.

Myron and his friends were involved in a dispute related to his stolen bike and the attack on him was a result of fall out between two groups.

Myron was stabbed five times in the leg on April 3 in the Camplin street area. He managed to stagger a few metres but collapsed and died due to severe bleeding.despite efforts by passers by and ambulance crews to save him.

He was a promising rapper and a student of Music Performance at the Big Creative academy in Walthamstow.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves, who led the investigation, said:

“A young man’s life has been lost, leaving his family absolutely distraught. Those responsible, also teenagers, now face significant prison sentences.

“Without the presence of knives at this incident, this attack and its terrible consequences for family, friends, brave witnesses who gave evidence, and the whole community, could have been avoided.”
