5 egg-citing things to do in Hackney this Easter

With the Easter school holidays starting in just four days, Eastlondonlines travelled to Hackney to pick the top five activities to keep the children entertained during the break.

1   Hackney Arts: Easter Holidays Club 

From the April 5-13, Hackney Arts Club is holding a range of different events as part of its Easter Kids Club. Taking place at a variety of venues across Hackney, events include activities such as 3D printing lessons, making art with recycled objects, beekeeping and breakdancing.

All the events are recommended for children aged eight and above and cost £21.83 for each event. Hackney Arts Club also offers some free places for low income families living in the Hackney borough.

2   The Geffrye Museum: Spring Is In The Air  

The Geffrye Museum of the Home is holding several events during this year’s Easter holidays. From April 4-7, their Spring Is In The Air event will take place from 10.30am-12:30pm and from 2pm-4pm. The event is free to join and includes decorating plant pots, making pottery and creating your own scented herb bags.

There is also a range of other events taking place over the break, including nursery rhyme time, clay animal making and making recycled egg-cups.

3  Wentworth Children’s Centre

Wentworth Children’s Centre, based in Hackney, has two weeks full of events planned for children this Easter Holiday. From April 3-14, there will be a range of different events for both children and parents, ranging from stay and play for under five-year-olds to pottery classes and postnatal clinics and parenting advice sessions.

Some events do require booking but there is also a range of drop in sessions.

4    SHEL: Kids Easter multi-sport camp 

 

From April 3-7, Sport Health Education Life (SHEL) are holding a week of activities for children aged 7-13. The events, held at Hackney Community College, are £8 per day and include a weekly trip to an additional venue for activities such as rock climbing, ice skating and gymnastics.

Every day there will be a range of energetic sport and performing arts activities run by coaches to keep children active and entertained this Easter break.

5    Sutton House and Breaker’s Yard Easter egg hunt 

This year Cadbury have teamed up with the National Trust to hold over 300 Easter egg hunts for children in National Trust spaces. In Hackney, Sutton House is the chosen venue. A Tudor home in the heart of east London, this historic venue will be used as the location for an Alice in Wonderland themed Easter adventure.

It costs £2 to get involved in the hunt and events run from noon-4pm daily from April 14-16.
