A motorcyclist was injured after crashing into a car this morning on Lee High Road.

A passenger in the car told ELL: “We were turning into the main road, no one was coming, then the man on the motorcycle passed a bus that was stopped, and he crashed onto us.”

Passersby quickly helped the man lying on the road, and two women started diverting traffic. One of them told ELL: “The motorbike got hit by the car so we obviously just helped do the traffic while we waited for the police to come and the ambulance.”

A witness said: “The car was turning out [off Old Road] and the bike went into the car.”

Two ambulances arrived at the scene within 5 minutes of the accident and started helping the man on the road.

Police and firefighters arrived shortly after and thanked the women for their assistance with traffic.

The man was taken away to hospital on a stretcher.
