Catford Arts has raised nearly £5,000 so far in its bid to make the Catford Arts Trail bigger and better after a successful debut last year.

By crowdsourcing on Crowd Funder, the group’s aim is to reach £11,000. This will provide finance to organise the trail and also help fund the opening of Catford Arts Gallery in the centre of the district.

This year’s arts trail is planned for September 23/24 and October 30/31 and, once again, will be free to the public.

Its purpose is to “celebrate creativity”, according to Catford Arts and will offer a showcase of work by local artists and creatives who will be displaying their artwork in various homes and public spaces in the area.

One hundred Lewisham artists will be featured – 25 more than took part in 2016’s trail, which attracted more than 9,000 visitors. This year there will also be a variety of workshops and activities throughout the event.

The proposed Catford Arts Gallery is described as a community gallery in a visible space in central Catford, which will be available to hire for exhibitions and events by local artists and makers.
